Winchester, Virginia – Carter Myers Automotive (CMA), a Charlottesville-based automobile dealer group celebrating 95 years in Virginia, has announced the acquisition of Subaru of Winchester. The new dealership will operate as CMA’s Subaru of Winchester at its existing location, 3019 Valley Avenue in Winchester, VA. Burke O’Malley, current owner of Subaru of Winchester, is staying with the company as Vice President & Executive Manager.
“We are excited to bring CMA’s mission of Moving Lives Forward to Winchester,” said Liza Borches, CMA’s fourth-generation President & CEO. “Our goal is to always be improving the lives of our associates, our customers, and our communities. The Subaru of Winchester team, led by GM Bobby Williams, has already been living that mission through their work with the local SPCA and the Subaru Love Promise program. CMA will work with them to build upon that, and to strengthen the Subaru brand in the area utilizing the knowledge we’ve gained through our other Subaru dealerships in Staunton and Chester, VA.”
“Our team is eager to become part of CMA,” said Bobby Williams, General Manager of Subaru of Winchester. “Each associate will now earn ownership in the company, and we will be able to leverage the buying power of CMA to expand our existing inventory of new and Certified Pre-Owned Subaru vehicles and other quality used cars. We already have ASE and Subaru-Certified technicians, and with CMA’s network across Virginia, we’ll also be able to expand our service and parts business for every make and model.”
With this acquisition, CMA now represents 17 new car brands and employs almost 700 people in Virginia. In addition to CMA’s Subaru of Winchester, CMA operates five dealerships in Staunton, one in Woodstock, three in Charlottesville, one in Williamsburg, and five in the Richmond, VA market. CMA also operates a stand-alone service center in Ruckersville, VA and the Central Virginia Auto Auction.
CMA is a family-owned business that also shares ownership with its employees. Through a unique Employee Stock Ownership Plan, CMA’s nearly 700 employee-owners currently own over 26% of the company and CMA is always hiring. Click here for career opportunities.
